EXPERIENCE

A journey to discover a land of contrasts, where the desert meets the sea and Wayuu culture remains alive in its stories, flavors, and ways of living in the territory. We’ll explore its landscapes and immerse ourselves in the traditions of an ancestral culture that preserves its knowledge and expresses its deep connection to the land through every weave, color, and story.

The experience begins with a departure from Valledupar toward Riohacha, passing through the “musical villages” and continuing on to a Wayuu settlement, where we’ll have the opportunity to explore their customs, crafts, cuisine, and traditional ways of life.

From Riohacha, we continue to Uribía, the indigenous heart of La Guajira, to explore its town square and feel the identity of a region deeply rooted in Wayuu culture.

We’ll arrive in Manaure, where the salt flats paint a landscape of whites and ochres, and we’ll learn about the tradition of salt harvesting—an activity that is integral to the region’s way of life and economy.

We’ll continue to the Carrizal Desert, where the sand dunes stretch all the way to the sea, creating ideal settings for contemplation and photography.

The adventure continues to Cabo de la Vela, traveling along roads that wind through desert landscapes until we reach its beaches and Wayuu lodges. Here, we’ll enjoy cuisine prepared by women from the community and connect with the tranquility of this region.

We’ll visit Ojo de Agua, where water emerges from among the rock formations, and head to the lighthouse to witness one of La Guajira’s most memorable sunsets. Then we’ll climb Cerro del Pilón de Azúcar, where we’ll take in the vastness of the Caribbean and the desert landscape.

Includes: Transportation Valledupar – Riohacha – Valledupar, 1 night’s lodging in Riohacha at Hotel Gimaura, 1 night’s lodging in Cabo de la Vela in cabins with beds, meals (6) (varied options, selected menu), tours of the Wayuu settlement, Cabo de la Vela tour passing through Uribía, the Manaure Salt Flats, and the Carrizal Desert; hotel taxes; travel assistance insurance; tour guide.
