Pueblo Bello Biodiverse

EXPERIENCES
We depart from Valledupar for Pueblo Bello, enjoying the scenery and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada—a territory of great spiritual significance for the region’s indigenous peoples. Along the way, we make stops to take in the scenery, breathe in the fresh air, and take photographs, while respectfully exploring the Arhuaco worldview and their relationship with nature and the land.
Along the way, we’ll visit Jimain, a community working to preserve its territory, its Iku language, its traditions, and its sense of community. This is an opportunity to experience a living culture that maintains its knowledge and passes it on to new generations.
We continue on to Pueblo Bello, at 1,200 meters above sea level, nestled among mountains, farmlands, and a pleasant climate. We’ll wander its streets and spaces where you can feel rural life and the presence of Arhuaco culture. We’ll learn about the importance of activities such as coffee production, immersing ourselves in the aromas, flavors, and knowledge that spring from this land.
In the tradition of weaving, we’ll observe the hands that transform wool into backpacks and pieces full of meaning. We’ll also learn about the significance of the “thread of harmonization,” as an expression of a spiritual tradition and a connection to the balance of the land.
We’ll continue on to the Ariguaní River, where we’ll go on a wellness hike to experience the water and the sounds of nature. We’ll enjoy regional cuisine and visit coffee shops, farms, and local craft shops.
On the way back, we’ll visit Valencia de Jesús, an old colonial enclave steeped in cattle-ranching and pottery traditions. We’ll explore the 17th-century Jesús de Nazareno Chapel, a National Monument of Cultural Interest and a site of deep religious tradition in the region.
