EXPERIENCES

Let yourself be swept away by the heart of Valledupar, a city where colonial history, art, legends, and vallenato music come together at every corner. This tour is an invitation to explore its iconic landmarks, but also to discover what isn’t on the maps: the joy of its people, their stories, their traditions, and that very special way of living and sharing their culture.

Through various stops, we’ll take a journey filled with photographs, stories, and experiences through some of the settings that make Valledupar a cultural landmark in Colombia and around the world.

We’ll start at Plaza Alfonso López Pumarejo, the historic heart of the city, to learn about its origins and discover how this space has witnessed important moments in Vallenato life. From there, we’ll walk through its streets and alleys steeped in colonial heritage, where the facades, murals, and architectural details tell stories of bygone eras.

The city also expresses itself through art. We’ll stroll along the heritage avenue and its urban art installations an open-air gallery where colors, characters, and symbols of local culture transform the everyday landscape.

We’ll visit cultural venues and museums that help us understand Valledupar’s history, its heritage, and the evolution of a folklore that found in the accordion, the caja, and the guacharaca a unique way to tell the story of life. Here, vallenato isn’t just music—it’s memory, identity, poetry, connection, and a way of expressing who we are.

The tour will also take us to Parque de Los Juglares and La Provincia, a space dedicated to creativity and musical tradition, where we can explore the stories of the great minstrels and that universe of songs that has transcended borders.

We’ll continue on to the Guatapurí River, one of Valledupar’s most beloved and symbolic places. There, we’ll learn about its legends, take in its landscapes, and understand why the river holds such a special place in the imagination and lives of the people of Valledupar.
