This is the lifeblood of vallenato music—a privileged region that embraces the land of Vallenato festivals and Latin Grammy Award winners, the cradle of a thousand songs that have inspired the world.

LA JAGUA DEL PILAR: Just 35 km from Valledupar lies a hidden treasure of vernacular architecture and founding history. This corner of the world is home to the “El Cardenal Guajiro” Ecopark, cooled by the waters of the Marquesote River, and an iconic folkloric plaza that pulses to the rhythm of its vallenato festival. It is a fertile land that gave birth to great legends such as Emiliano Zuleta Baquero, Toño Salas, and the singer-songwriter and cultural promoter Rafael Manjarrez, along with Juan Segundo Lagos and virtuoso verseadores who spread their joy to every visitor.

URUMITA: Traveling 14 kilometers further, we come upon a colonial and coffee-growing treasure. Enjoy an old village where Indigenous and European heritage blend in flower-filled plazas, the Calagüala Festival, and authentic folklore. On this tour, you’ll discover a “glyptotheque” of singer-songwriters and the iconic houses where the legendary song “La Gota Fría” was born. This land is the musical birthplace of greats like Silvestre Dangond, Fabián Corrales, and the Ramos and Maestre dynasties. Spice up your adventure with a must-try cup of local organic coffee!.

VILLANUEVA: We continue for 7 km. Amid history and anecdotes, guided by the vivid memories of beloved figures like Tite Socarrás, who wove a musical journey that remains forever etched in the heart. To experience it is to breathe in tradition, the warmth of its people, and its main square—the “spiritual home of the Cuna de Acordeones Festival”—all the way to the gazebo that proudly displays the world’s largest accordion, guarded by the imposing “Cerro Pintao,” the province’s guardian and breadbasket.

In the charming neighborhoods of San Luis and El Cafetal, you walk through the very cradle of nostalgia and joy—corners where the great dynasties were born, dynasties that today travel the world spreading happiness. The echo of accordions and the voices of beloved figures such as Israel Romero and Jorge Celedón, among others, along with the legacies of the Murgas, Zuleta, and Turco Gil dynasties, and more, remain alive on every corner.

EL MOLINO: Just 10 km away, the journey welcomes us to a magical town, born from the meeting of cultures, faith, and melodies—the history of everything that surrounds it, historic roads that look toward the Colombian-Venezuelan border.

At the heart of the town stands the Ermita de San Lucas, a heritage treasure that the community safeguards with all its heart as a witness to its history. But the true miracle of this land is its people and their memory: sacred ground that cradles the legacy of the minstrels of the Magdalena Grande. Here, the narrative essence of “Chico” Bolaño feels alive, along with the eternal echo of the Meriño, Rosado, Oñate, Díaz, and other dynasties, and the endearing voice of Alberto “Beto” Zabaleta, reminding us of the Voz del Cantante Festival.

SAN JUAN DEL CESAR: 17 kilometers from El Molino, the road leads to a place where history is not only told but sung from the soul; this town, with its colonial and republican architecture, whispers secrets of the past. It serves as a filming location for soap operas thanks to its natural surroundings, bathed by the historic Cesar River.

As you stroll through its plazas and admire its urban art, you can feel the air thick with poetry. Visitors are guided to the sacred Museum of Vallenato Composition, the very heart where the legacy of singer-songwriters beats—those who transformed nostalgia and love into musical myths unique in the world. Walking through these streets is like stepping onto the blessed ground that witnessed the birth of the Marín dynasty’s genius, the lyricism of Roberto Calderón, and the infinite soul of Luis Egurrola, alongside the golden pens of Roberto Daza Urbina, Aurelio Núñez, and many others.

Day 2- La Junta, Carrizal, El Totumo Spa or similar; return to Valledupar or to northern La Guajira.
